About SinglePane

I'm Jason Wilmot — a software developer based in Austin, Texas. Originally from Toronto, raised in Kalamazoo, and after a decade in Bermuda, I landed here with my family. I build software designed to simplify daily life, and SinglePane is my answer to a pain I couldn't ignore.

The Problem

When I started coding with AI agents, my workflow changed completely. I wasn't editing files line by line anymore — I was directing agents, reviewing their output, and running multiple sessions in parallel. I was using VS Code at first, but it felt heavy for a workflow where I wasn't really the one writing code. I switched to Ghostty, which I loved as a terminal, but it was still missing a fluid workflow around the agent itself — no easy way to manage files alongside my sessions, no notifications when an agent finished or needed input. I'd kick off a task, switch to something else, and have no idea what was happening.

The Solution

So I built SinglePane — a single pane of glass for agentic development. It's a macOS app that brings together a terminal multiplexer, a dual-pane file explorer, and a markdown-focused reader/editor, all in one window. It's purpose-built for working with AI coding agents like Claude Code, with deep hooks integration that gives me audio cues and system notifications so I always know what my agents are up to — even when I'm browsing Hacker News.

  • Run multiple Claude Code sessions side by side with split panes and grid view
  • Get audio and visual notifications the moment agents need your attention
  • Navigate projects with a dual-pane file explorer inspired by Total Commander
  • Preview and edit markdown, code, images, PDFs, and more — all in one place
  • Customize your workspace with 16 themes, custom layouts, and keyboard shortcuts
